We cannot say enough great things about our stay at Meanwhile Woods. The location near the gondola is exceptional and there is an onsen next door. The kitchen is well equipped to make meals at home. The space is quiet and so peaceful. Marcus himself is the most gracious host one could ask for. This was an absolute 5/5 star stay. We do hope our travels bring us back to the myoko area again for a repeat visit. Do not hesitate to book this property, you won’t be disappointed in anything .

It’s just right in the snow resort. The staff are friendly. Especially the staff who assisted us on our very first time going snow driving. We enjoyed it very much!

We had a amazing time and will recommend to others! Breakfast each morning before riding was awesome and it was a short 10 min walk to the bus stop to catch a ride to the ski resort. would have been better had we rented a car to get to other areas of town for dinner vs those in walking distance.

I loved everything about this hotel for the area! Joetsumyoko is an incredibly convenient station to use as a jumping off point for the rest of Joetsu, for Iiyama and we even popped down to Nagano for a day no problem! It’s a completely covered walk of like 90 seconds from the foot of the station stairs to the hotel entrance, so when I say it’s “close to the station” I mean it! Also for convenience there’s a Lawson (コンビニ) suuuper close for any snacking or utility needs, and there’s a few good restaurants for dinner right by the station as well (and a Komeda for breakfast if you’re not eating at the hotel restaurant). The hot spring was a really nice benefit, and it opens really early which was great for me! The staff were really friendly, and the room was honestly way more spacious than we expected. All in all, this was about as perfect as you can get for a non-ryokan hotel in Joetsu!

Although, the room’s private onsen can only accommodate one person, it was incredible to have that to yourself after a long day on the slopes. The hotel design has a nostalgic 80s feel to it.

10/10 stay. Absolutely amazing hosts, wonderful property & onsen, and great location. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Super nice Lodge close to the slopes. Amazing staff and very relaxed environment. The outdoor onsen is a big plus.

Amazing hotel well positioned for everything in Myoko. We had a Japanese room, which was so pretty with fabulous views. The food offerings, including the food trucks, are great, and make the hotel very easy. People congregate in the lobby lounge areas for food and drinks after skiing. The real highlight is the amazing indoor and outdoor onsens - great. There is also a big play room for little kids on the top floor, which may be useful for some. The breakfast was amazing - everything you could want. Onsite ski hire and lessons were very helpful - we used both and couldn’t be happier with the quality.
