The location was very attractive but a little bit out of the way. The dog chalet was excellent for us and our dog and was very clean with comfortable beds The food was tasty and reasonably priced and the staff very helpful .

This is a wonderful properly. It's compact, but not squashed, and fantastic value. Lydgia is a born host. The accommodation has been extremely well thought out. All things considered, the bathroom is pretty spacious, especially a nice big, modern shower. All the fittings have a touch of luxury. And all the decorations are so tasteful. Lydgia supplies lots of little goodies. You have your own off road parking place, and there's a private, tasteful little courtyard with table and chairs, for an evening drink or morning coffee. It is abundantly clear that she wants you to have a v enjoyable stay. There is even a washing machine and tumble dryer. Don't expect views; the large window (with blinds and curtains) overlook the front drive in this well-kept 1960s estate of houses. Yes, it is not in Cambridge centre, but the 20 min drive is v easy, and is fantastic value considering all the above. Also, it gave us the chance to discover the v pretty market town on St Ives. For a one night stop over it is fantastic. But you could use it as a base to explore Cambridge and the area for a few days.

Beautiful property with a llama farm next door. The room was beautiful and had all the amenities you could need. Bed and linens were comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was amazing- best avocado toast I’ve ever had. Great coffee. Lovely staff. What more could you ask for?

I almost didn't want to do a review on the Thorn B&B because it was so perfect I wanted to keep it a secret 🤫 Gorgeous, quiet location. Great to have a whole little house all to ourselves. Lovely cooked breakfast hand delivered each morning. The lovely host, Alex, likes to deliver breakfast by 8am so if you want a lie in take some cereal or bread for toast and make your own in the little kitchen where a microwave, small fridge with chiller slot (not freezer), coffee machine, toaster and kettle are provided. There's also tea, coffee pods, condiments, jam and a big barrel of biscuits provided. Small living room with smart TV, cupboard that doubled up as a wardrobe and ironing board and iron home and dining table. Walk in shower was efficient and toiletries are provided. The bed was comfy and the bedroom was equipped with fans, electric blanket, hairdryer and straighteners! There wasn't a garden view in our lodge but there was a private drive that allowed us to take the car right up to the front door of the property which made unpacking a breeze. Away from the property there is a local pub 'The Three Tuns' which does a very nice meal. Not the cheapest place for food but if it is only a night or two then it's great. There is no shop of any kind in the village so stock up before you get there. Alex gave us a fabulous welcome with a little treat (I won't spoil the surprise) and nothing seemed too much trouble for him. If you want a relaxed, private experience then this is definitely the place for you.

The wife and I loved everything at the Thorpe Guesthouse in Hemingford. Location is superb, in the beautiful rural Cambridgeshire, the hosts were friendly and the room was simply exceptional: huge, comfortable bed, spotless, clean bathroom, and the place is so quiet, what a lovely place and a lovely weekend getaway!

We loved the location. We arrived on a very warm midweek afternoon. The waterside frontage was lovely overall, very peaceful with people were in and on the river. We opted to stay inside the hotel rather than the chalet we were allocated and that was done with no trouble The room was quite nice very clean and fresh. In the 30 degree heat the fan we had worked very well. Thank goodness. Overall though we found the hotel to be very welcoming with staff who were cheerful friendly and helpful.

Stayed here as had a wedding at the Marina… This is a simple but very clean room. It’s old but very pleasant and comfortable. Great coffee and a very good breakfast in the morning! Friendly staff

The accommodation was comfortable and quirky, an older building with history, comfortable and welcoming. There was some confusion over the breakfast agreement but that was then provided and was superb.. The location is peaceful and tranquil and of course there is a bar and restaurant on site that were both excellent. Although a short break we had a lovely stay here.

Lovely location, The staff were very good. Best breakfast I had in a long time. Menu looked tasty. Didn’t eat there apart from a dessert and breakfast. The room we stayed in was not part of the main building so was nice a quiet.

This is 2nd time we have been to the Pike and eel this time for 2 nights , we stayed in one of the chalets next to the marina which is perfect for us, it would be perfect if they had a little kitchen area however we had our little stove with us so we cooked breakfast, there is a table + bench just outside the chalet , husband was happy doing a little fishing in the river, there is a nice bar in the main building, there's also a couple of pubs nearby, St Ives town is just a short car ride for more shopping.. We would definitely come back.

Welcoming and helpful staff. A first class evening meal in a cosy pub atmosphere at a quiet time of year, with excellent service. Our very good value accommodation was accessed outside and may not suit everyone in winter; but the accommodation itself was warm and comfortable. The marina and riverside location is excellent, as was the full breakfast served.

The bed was super comfortable, I loved the pictures of the hare in the Dr Hare room! It was spotlessly clean and tidy and the blanket in the room was super fluffy and warm. We didn’t book breakfast with the room but chose to have it in the morning and for the additional £12.50 each the breakfast was excellent. Freshly cooked, tasty and great portion sizes! Not only can you have the cooked menu but you also have self service cereals, toast and fruit juices. We’ve really enjoyed our stay and will be back again!

Despite being quite isolated, the hotel had a lovely outlook over a marina and river. We stayed in October when the weather was not ideal but could be stunning in the summer months.

Lovely stay in beautiful surroundings, great base point and nice to be by river and boats. Stayed in a separate place with dog, which is the other side of the car park. Bed was seriously comfortable! Didn't eat here so can't comment on food etc. Friendly staff and room was clean and tidy
