There was a complimentary breakfast, with fresh fruit, breakfast pastries, toast: everything I need.
Nice terrace area on the 2nd floor and pool on the ground floor.
Hotel is quite well maintained and in the center of the town.
There's a private parking right underneath the hotel.
Driving there from the hotel entrance is extremely complicated: they send someone with you. Then back to the hotel, plenty of stairs to climb.

GermanyIncredible bespoke architecture with a breathtaking view. The room was even bigger and brighter than described - we were so relaxed immediately on arriving. Easily a highlight of six weeks travelling across Mexico. The host was super attentive and has such a passion for the project, which is slowly growing. He was glad to give a tour of the beautiful property and left us the rest of our time to just relax and enjoy the peace and quietude of the place. Wish we’d stayed more than one night!

The house and garden were gorgeous. The room was beautifully rustic and had everything we needed, and the owners and their family incredibly welcoming and helpful despite our mangling of Spanish - a snifter on arrival and a lovely breakfast the next morning. WiFi not the fastest but reliable. Great shower. No aircon (we knew this in advance) but the ceiling fan did a good job. Just outside the very centre of town and therefore a good bit quieter. We'd definitely stay here again.

The hotel is situated so close to the jungle, it was wonderful to be woken by bird song.
The staff were incredibly helpful in helping me arrange my arrival and through my stay in Xilitla.
The hotel is less that a ten-minute walk from the surrealist garden, but to enter you have to purchase tickets either in advance on-line, or head into the town and buy same-day tickets from the ticket office.

If you are in Xilitla for the surrealism of Edward James and Leonora Carrington, this is the essential Mexican portion of the visit being the creation of Plutarco Gastelum, James's friend and craftsman. An original Carrington graces one of the walls. Guests effectively have the full run of the building, its open spaces and living room preserving the fixtures and contents of the past. I feel privileged to have stayed here. Breakfast is also excellent.
