When we arrived, there was some urgent construction underway to improve the units. While this caused a bit of disruption to our stay, we decided to check out a day early and informed the team. To our surprise, they took the initiative to contact Booking.com on our behalf and arranged a refund for the final night. On top of that, they offered us an additional $50 as a gesture of goodwill. They weren’t obligated to do any of this, and it truly reflects their commitment to excellent service. What could have been a disappointing experience was completely turned around by their responsiveness and care. The hosts were quick to respond to any queries, the location is fantastic, and the rooms are comfortable. At the end of the day, it all comes down to service—and in this regard, they truly excelled.

This is one of the few places that warrants 10/10. Saralyn and her mother were exceptionally kind. They even packed a breakfast for me, since I had a very early departure. The Inn is beautifully decorated and very cosy, with homemade cookies and food available all the time. It is situated one block from the main historic street. There is a lot to see in this little town. It is under 30 minutes from Reno.

Black Bear Lodge is located in South Lake Tahoe, roughly 0.5 mi from the lake and 1 mi from The Gondola at Heavenly. All rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and a gas fireplace.

The location was perfect, walking distance to downtown. There is a market attached where you can buy snacks, drinks, etc. The rooms have a microwave and refrigerator/freezer. The rooms are rustic and charming! We stayed in the newer addition and those rooms are in the process of being upgraded as well. The staff was so friendly! There is free coffee and breakfast danishes in the morning. We will definitely stay again.

The breakfast was great. Eggs, waffles, sausage, toast, juice, & coffee. The cottage was very cute. I loved the little patio where we could sit outside. It had a kitchen supplied with dishes & silverware. The bed was so comfortable, that I fell asleep with no problem.
