I cannot recommend The Secret Garden enough! This place is truly the heart and soul of Cat Ba, offering the perfect blend of social vibes, comfort, and adventure. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and at home. The rooms are spotless, the beds are spacious, and the overall atmosphere is warm and inviting. The toilets are surprisingly spacious, and the showers are incredibly well-designed with travelers in mind—thoughtful touches that make a big difference. But what really sets this place apart is the incredible staff, especially the manager, Easy. He is the heartbeat of The Secret Garden—always leading by example, never just bossing people around. Whether it’s helping with day-to-day tasks or ensuring everyone from guests to staff is having a great time, Easy’s hands-on approach and positive energy are contagious. He’s someone you’ll remember long after you leave. The hostel is packed with activities that make it impossible to get bored. From daily themed nights (quiz night was my absolute favorite!) to the unique herbal foot bath, there’s always something fun to do. I loved the creative opportunities, like painting a mural for a free stay, and the chance to explore the island while earning free drinks and other perks. The boat tour I booked through the hostel was fantastic—well-organized, reasonably priced, and packed with memorable moments. What’s even better is that booking through the hostel costs the same as anywhere else, whether online or with other operators. Plus, booking through them earned me free drinks, which was a nice bonus! The Secret Garden is more than just a place to stay—it’s a community. It’s the perfect spot to meet fellow travelers, share stories, and create lasting memories. Whether you’re looking to explore, socialize, or try something new, this hostel has it all. Awesome set up in nature, close to caves and hikes in national park. The bungalow was super cozy and comfortable, the host was absolutely amazing in hleping us with transports and booking activities. Could not have asked for a better service and environment while staying on the island.

Great location near restaurants, but far enough from the clubs that it’s quiet at night. The staff really make the place though. The manager Hoai doesn’t speak much English, but is great with Google translate. She helped me figure out how to get from Ho Chi Minh to Cat Ba (I was going to fly to Hanoi and take the bus, but she gave me step by step instructions on a shorter route from Haiphong airport to Cat Ba, and even sent photos of the bus I was to take.). And she was always checking in via WhatsApp, to see if I needed anything. Property has an elevator which was really nice being on the 6th floor!

Modern, spacious, clean, excellent breakfast, very reasonable price. Close enough to downtown but far from the crowd of tourists.

What really makes the difference at JoyStay is the owner and the team. Everyone is so pleasant and helpful. Ming and family helped us sort out our days and our travel plans, making sure we had a great time and fully enjoyed the area. Thank you

Great stay, perfect to relax for half a day while doing activities in the other half. Room was big, comfortable and very clean. The relaxation area was well equipped.

The hotel is very new and clean, the staff was super helpful in booking us a taxi from the airport, a motorbike for our stay and a transfer to Hanoi. They even got us cash without having to go to the ATM. The room was very pretty and comfortable! The free water in the lobby is an extra plus.

Exceptionally hotel with amazing staff and services. I wish I had booked this hotel in all of my previous stays in Hai Phong. I just came back from a five star hotel and resort in Nha Trang, where I paid 3 times more, and yet everything is way less appealing than Pullman Hai Phong Everything is here new and modern. The room is very spacious with the amazing city view. The staff are super friendly, helpful, and attentive ❤️❤️
