Gayndah is a tidy historic town in the North Burnett and it is the oldest town in QLD. I loved seeing the Big Orange as we drove in. The Mellors Drapery and Haberdashery building is a cool old building and it still contains the flying fox used as a cash carrier for over 100 years. The Grand Hotel serves generous reasonably priced meals. My steak was cooked perfectly! Cafe Viet is a little taste of Vietnamese fresh flavours in an Aussie town. It has very friendly staff and the food was delicious. They make small individual French inspired cakes that make you want to go back for more!

Nice country town, very quiet, surrounding areas need a look, particularly McConnel lookout - well worth the trip, very surprised at the view as I didn’t know Gayndah was on the Burnett river nor did I know how many citrus orchards are in the area until I saw them from the lookout

Interesting history, Gayndah has self reported ‘oldest pub in Queensland’. Make sure to see the ‘Big Orange’ and worth making the quick trip up to Archers lookout in the middle of town for surprisingly good view of Gayndah and Burnett valley.
