Amazing. I arrived at 4:30am, they let me in right away. Perfect stay if you’re arriving from or flying out of the airport. Checkout is also at 1pm, so if your like me and will be arriving late this place is perfect. Super comfortable bed too.

Right now there are protests going on in Bolivia, so many tours were cancelled and getting to/from the airport wasn't a walk in the park. I would definitely come back to La Paz and stay at least one week. There's so much to see and do! Security is very good in La Paz compared to other big cities in the region like Lima, Quito or Bogota.

LaPaz is a relatively cheap destination that is the start...

LaPaz is a relatively cheap destination that is the start point for many good local bus tours, and the hop on hop off gringo bus that goes up into Peru, and picks up all the big ticket destinations. Its a good place to acclimatise, while using the cable car system to get around a bit in the larger city. Its rustic in places, but first world in others. Never felt at risk, even wandering about in the late evenings.

La Paz is challenging, built in a mountain cavity, beautiful, and is brilliant at night. As a man I felt safe going and walking everywhere even places I didn't know much about. But, as an older man I have to confess that at times moving around and climbing up and down was exhausting but also rewarding.
