This hotel is in a beautiful location, on a hill, right next to the jungle. You can wake up to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys! The rooms are simple and functional, and balconies have a hammock and rocking chair, just what I needed for my early morning quiet routine.

By far the best hotel I booked in Costa Rica. Even extended my stay for a while. Spacious room that even has a kitchen attached, a balcony surrounded by greenery, what more is there to wish for? Very nice host, who also run the restaurant across the street, which is probably also one of your best options in Montezuma.

The owners are very friendly and helpful. Besides, you can hear the sound of nature; you're visited by howler monkeys and other animals. The river is just behind the house. Also, you can use the swimming pool next door.

Very hospitable owner and staff, super friendly and accommodating. If breakfast is included, there's a couple options and are good sized! 1 minute walk to town but not in the mix so nicely secluded. Montezuma's small, like basically one block with a street in and a street out so most places are on the main road like this one therefore easily accessible but still nice and natural. Tons of white faced monkeys and family of coati right outside. *Quick tip, like anywhere in the warm jungle type areas of Latin America, a mosquito net is your best friend*

Montezuma is easy going, has beautiful beaches with low tide holes in the rocks that leave bathtubs that heat up by the sun. The waterfall is a nice walk upstream also with flip-flops (till the first one) The Saturday market just across from casa Susen has great quality products, is a bit pricey though.

Fantastic home slightly up the mountain in the middle of the natural beauty of the area. Very private location but not far from the main area. Loved having kitchen for breakfast and anything else you wanted to cook. Freddy, the host, was great to deal with. Pool was great overlooking the Pacific. Loved it and would definitely stay again!!

This is the place to go to see the bioluminescent plankton. It was beautiful. The ferry ride was fun. We used Eddy’s tour. He was very knowledgeable about the biodiversity and the provided the best bioluminescence tour. We did have four senior couples in our group. Eddy was very thoughtful about helping some of our group into the boat

Santa Teresa is one of my favorite spots... as a parent I could say having a place with a pool is a NEED since the ocean is not to "kid friendly"... Small town that grew in the last 20+ years, it's amazing to see and meet people from all over the place, chilling and having a great time. Everyone is Pura Vida!!!!

If you are into big, high end, plush accomodations this may not be your place. But it has everything for a simple traveler like myself. Also, many people from around the world find it adequate (Netherlands, Argentina, USA).

Excellent service from the staff.

Excellent service from the staff. Cabins were really nice, although dark as they are made of local wood. No plastic anywhere. Good kitchen facilities. Lacked a good light anywhere to read under, other than that, our stay was most pleasant. Henry’s pizza, and the bar next door, just 100m along the road, had excellent food and drinks as well. There is a well stocked mini super 50m further to stock up on snacks and food if you use the kitchen in the cabin. All in all, a most pleasant stay.

You must not miss the sunset!

You must not miss the sunset! Gather down at the beach near sunset...for us it was 1745!!!!!! Stay off of the beach after 1000 until 1600...too hot unless you are constantly in the water. Be careful of sun burn.

The area is very nice, Authentic Costa Rica.

The area is very nice, Authentic Costa Rica. The Waterfalls were very nice, the beaches are great for exploring between the rock outcroppings and the sandy beaches. Since I could not stay in the Adeluna Villas as planned because the accomodations were not appropriate, I found another location suiting all of my needs.even better and much cheaper. So many places to hike and explore. Visiting Cabuya a little further up the road. Walk out to Cabuya Island when the tide is low.

Playa Tambor is a sleepy little village, very quiet.

Playa Tambor is a sleepy little village, very quiet. The beach itself is very nice, especially when the tide is out, there are large sand flats. There is a small resort just off the beach called the Tambor Tropical resort which we used for drinks and lunch, very nice, all outdoor tables and bar, great staff. We spent one day at Santa Theresa beach, about 45 minute drive away. Fantastic beach, busy beach town, great if you want to watch the surfers, go for a beautiful long walk or lounge around on the beach. Not that great for actual swimming since it is quite flat, you need to walk out a long way to get to your waist. We didn't eat while there so I can't comment on restaurants except to say there where lots of them. We found the whole area beautiful and intend to visit again.
