We stayed for over a month to have a break from our yacht. Our family hired two deluxe rooms. We anchored out the front and kept our dinghy safe right in front of the restaurant.
This is a great place to stay. Our rooms had a balcony and ocean view. The staff are amazing and will do absolutely anything to help. They are really lovely people.
The restaurant is great. Nice food, big servings, beer, some western dishes like crisp fries and steak, the price is good and it's a perfect place to hang out right next to the ocean.
This is a budget place so don't expect The Intercontinental but it's incredible value for money which is important to us. Normally we could never dream of our whole family staying in a hotel for weeks like this.
Our rooms had good air conditioning, a fridge, the staff gave us a kettle, big comfy beds, and our own bathroom of course. I would highly recommend this place to sailors who want to get off their boat or have a good meal, and anyone who would like a nice, peaceful and comfortable place with a good view next to the ocean. It's not far to the town and certainly a much more peaceful area.

Staying at Wisma Grace was one of the warmest travel experiences I’ve had. The true highlight? Gabby, the host. She’s absolutely exceptional — the kind of person who makes you feel instantly at home. Her kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care for guests go far beyond expectations.
Gabby and her husband even woke up at 4 AM just to say goodbye to me. I mean, who does that? I wouldn’t have woken up myself if I didn’t have to — that’s how deeply they care.
The breakfast is lovely too — simple and served with warmth. The whole place has a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you’re staying with family rather than at a guesthouse.

Ambon is a small less visited part of Indonesia.
Ambon is a small less visited part of Indonesia. Few tourists are there and those are almost all Indonesians. The island is best used for a jumping off point to visit other scenic islands. However, Liang Beach on the east coast is a very scenic beach, easily reached by taxi.

The prices are very low for lodging and restaurants. The city is not a place to walk around in. There are few sidewalks and motorbikes everywhere. Just crossing the street is a challenge. If you are going to Banda Neira or Salem Island, do yourself a favor and don’t go there. There is loads of trash, plastic etc. everywhere and not much to do, especially on Salem Island. There are far better islands to visit in Indonesia. The people, however, are friendly and helpful. It feels very safe. Most do not speak English but it’s easy enough to communicate with a translation app.
