Hotel looks a bit rundown, but rooms have been renovated. The area was a bit rundown, lots of old snacks, but also plenty of eating options. Included breakfast, so I think good value. Sorry, no photos.

Fantastic historical area.
Fantastic historical area. I didn't know much of this place but when I arrived I immediately fell in love with it. One of my top favorite place in Japan for sure. This place itself is a living museum, with stylish historical buildings everywhere, and nicely maintained, mostly renovated into museums now, and mostly for free! The tele communication museum was amazing and super fun. The station itself is a true piece of art. Yaki curry is must try of course. Take the ferry for just 5 minutes to get to Yamaguchi and the fun continues.

Our goal was to explore the northern part of Kyushu and Shimonoseki. It was really fun to see the clear difference from Kanto or Kansai area and as we arrived after the mid autumn festival time, most cities were extremely comfortable getting around.

Very recommended. We love Aso area a lot, mountains there are green like Macha and food/fruit are really delicious, for example: tomatoes or milk, pudding....etc.

This is a small town but perfect for conference or a few day...
This is a small town but perfect for conference or a few day escape from routine trip. Some attractions like shrines, few hiking trails and a railway museum are around. Finally Fukuoka is just 15 away by Shinkansen. And this town has its small but charming airport!
