The family that runs the guesthouse is incredibly welcoming and the bed was comfy. They offer a fresh and delicious breakfast with your stay, as well as plenty of water when needed. They also have a gate that they lock in the evening for safety. I will definitely be back when I come to Savannakhet!

Very peaceful for sleeping. The Doctor is a wonderful lady, very polite and helpful! She REALLY goes out of her way to help you!! This is the best place I have stayed in for a long time. Excellent place. 5-10 min walk to really great food. Yeah, no question when I come back to Savannakhet I will stay here ONLY. 😁👍ypu can rent bicycle. And motorbikes right here! So once you get here you are good to go!!😁

Good location. Within walking distance of bus station, airport and river. Very clean. Friendly owner without being the overly friendly type that is not authentic and just looking for a good review. Very good inside and outside communal spaces. On a quiet street. They pay attention to the little things that matter...water cooler, toilet paper option, many plants. I have travelled all over the world and this hostel is one of the best. Highly recommend.

sleepy city by the Mekong, Savanakhet is opposite a short trip over the bridge. I loved the lack of the traffic hum of a big city, particularly on the Laotian side. In another universe there would be even easier to cross back and forth as if it was the same city. Loved this duality.

The market was very interesting, prices ridiculously cheap and a huge variety of goods on offer .the river night market with restaurants is worth the trip alone . Temple and buddha on the mountain is definitely worth seeing.
It was a pity the smoke haze covered the city from the the temple , it would be fantastic view looking down over the river and city.

Mukdahan is a border town with Laos.
Mukdahan is a border town with Laos. There really isn't much to see there, and better experiences in Thailand can be found elsewhere. There is the Indochina market, which is a large wholesale market close to the river - however JJ Market in Bangkok is much better with cheaper prices. There's a few large temples, however other temples can be found elsewhere in Thailand. There is some excellent Vietnamese bread and sandwiches at the walking street night market, but those can be found in Ubon and Udon.
Getting around is done by walking or renting a motorcycle. You can take a tuk-tuk, but those are expensive.
Mukdahan: Hot and dusty, but a good resting point before jumping the border to Laos.
