Nice secure oasis from the street outside. Thoughtful gardens. Restaurant food was excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to assist. It’s a quiet place to recover from travel.

Not many bars/restaurants to choose among.
Not many bars/restaurants to choose among. Some roads are not even asphalted yet.
Most of properties look like prisons due to the barbed wire on the walls of houses.
You are about 50 minutes driving far from the city centre, but close to Croc farm, worth a visit.

Antananarivo is a vibrant and unique city full of culture, history, and welcoming people. If you enjoy staying somewhere that truly feels like home, Scandinavian Guesthouse is an excellent choice, offering the comfort and furniture of a modern European-style apartment.
The property is modern, secure, and very well equipped, with excellent Starlink internet, Netflix, Canal+, and all the essentials for a comfortable short or long stay. Another great advantage is that guests can also book or purchase international flight tickets directly at the Scandinavian Guesthouse office.

I like the city and the people.
I like the city and the people. However its a matter of concern the number of people living as street children or families, begging all day long. On the other hand I could appreciate how rich the Malagasy land seems to be, plenty of waters, groceries and fruits cheap. Walking along alone at late hours not recommended though. I could do well bargaining for prices in open markets, although I do not understand and speak Malagasy. Whenever they talked to me, at open market purchases, I requested for price in Ariary, then I bargained. I have special bargaining capabilities and I always ended up securing a good purchase price for my articles. Favourite spots were the Royal Palace, the Analakely Market. There are a lot of cheap restaurants within the city centtre. My groceries were purchased from Super U Analakely. I liked my stay and am going back in 3 or 4 months. But tis time I am going to another hotel just to check and enjoy other service providers.

Tana has certainly nice area’s, but the center is very crowded and dirty. Not the prettiest place we have been, although the Kings palace (north of Tana), queens palace, marche artisanal de la digue are worth visiting. We did not spent a lot of time in Tana, it was the beginning and end of our trip west and back with rental 4 wheel drive. Maybe next time …
