Elias, our host, was amazing. He told us about the local area and the plants that grew there. We arrived at 9pm and there were no restaurants nearby so he went out for us and bought us back some food. We were very grateful to him. Excellent service.

What a find! CozyBe has new, beautiful villas tucked back on a quiet street just a short walk from the beach. There are only a few apartments and they are very well done. Modern and clean with AC. The moved us to a larger room with a big king bed + twin bed (as we were traveling with our daughter) and there was a small kitchen attached. You could actually add a 2nd bedroom to this to sleep 5 (the other room was locked off). Fernando was the most excellent host! Helpful and kind, he is the best. You can access the beach from the Kumba lodge which is just short walk from their place, which is then about a 15 minute walk to the edge of town. Fernando mentioned they have been very slow as they are relatively new. Stay here, you won't be disappointed for the price.

We had a wonderful stay! Sam welcomed us warmly and even came to pick us up in Tofo village.
We had booked a hut for two people without a bathroom, but to our surprise, they upgraded us to one with a private bathroom!
I had an amazing seafood pasta at the lodge restaurant, definitely a must-try! The chef was very friendly and so was the barman; both were super kind and helpful. They gave us very clear directions on how to walk to the village along the beach, which was great.
The place is absolutely beautiful! You can watch the sunset among the palm trees and the sunrise over the ocean

From Jhb, the more reliable consistent commercial flights are to Vilanculos. Even though the road to Inhambane is on the countries main road, it is single lane and a few hours of travel, although so worth it when one arrives in Inhambane

One can just sit and enjoy, we did tours and learned a LOT about local life from very knowedgeable tour guides. Highly recommend the seahorse tour - tha wa smy highlight. My son went scuba diving and had some wonderful experiences. The whale watching was th elow point - they are simply not there at the time we visited, so the boatride was more dolphin watching. Would not do that again as the waves are quite big in this area - but the launching of that boat was a really fun experience:)
Most store owners were lovely, restaurant food was delicious.
Please read up on internal transport options getting there! Not so easy. aWe had planend a combination of CHEETAH bus an dprivate taxis BUT THEN, we were there during the SEVERE flooding and the (only north-south) road was completely washed out - so our travel plans were quite disrupted.

When visiting Inhambane be sure to visit Guinjata bay for scuba diving and beautiful empty beaches. Tofo is also interesting for day trips to explore the local islands by sail boat which also supports the local population. It has a little market by the beach with many nice restaurants which is very popular with tourists.

Tofo is a little gem in Mozambique.
Tofo is a little gem in Mozambique. Not that easy to get to unless you have your own transport. A small compact town. People are very friendly. A lot of choice of restaurants and bars, but not overdeveloped so you feel very much in Africa. There's a market area selling fruit and veg, plus local arts and crafts. It feels extremely safe. Surfing and diving is one of the main sports here.

Exquisite spot. A real gem. Exceeded expectations.
Exquisite spot. A real gem. Exceeded expectations. Beautiful beach, the best swimming we've ever had. Gentle waves and warm water. A charming town with a mix of great restaurants. An excellent offering of excursions to take in and around the area - Moz Tours was brilliant (our tour operator for a few trips). One thing to keep in mind over the festive and New Year season - Tofo becomes one big and long party. There were 3 big stages set up along the beach with loud music that carried on through the night into the day (non-stop). There were also huge crowds and litter after nightly celebration - 31st Dec to 2nd Jan. BUT beach clean up happened pretty quickly. And we used earplugs to block out noise. We loved the energy, but for some it might be too noisy / busy at this time.
