Good breakfast & excellent location for those traveling by ferry to the island. It is on the opposite end of the island from the airport, however, & a little too far for my older mother to walk with luggage after an evening flight. There is no taxi service but luckily we were able to arrange for a pick-up with the hotel.

Wonderful little island town.

Wonderful little island town. About two miles in long axis from one end to the other. To the right/east from airport are the two most popular hotels, as well as the one grocery store (Joker). Everything else on that end is more industry/fishing/stockfish drying racks (which smell like you would imagine in certain seasons). To the left/west side of the island from the airport are the municipal building, elementary school, and a nursing home, as well as the town’s Protestant church (operating every other Sunday or so), and the popular snack stand, Kolwan’s (he’s a treasure, and has led an incredible life—talk to him). The rest on this side is residential mostly. Beautiful little bike trail that runs along the main artery road, perfect for short runs. Near the airport is one major hiking trail, which leads out to a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea. Completely beautiful, though a little difficult to follow. Look out for the red markings and nature preserve signs once you’ve passed the fish racks. Talk to the place you’re staying about getting a ride from the airport, as getting to the hotel with your bags can take a little time. The medical director was kind enough to give us a ride. The grocery store is well-stocked, and the most often mentioned restaurant on the island is currently closed, so be comfortable with snagging/making your own food. (Eat some Nougetti for me!) Puffin viewing ships start in May or later, generally, so if that’s part of your plans, be mindful. Northern lights are common, but weather is also a component. All of that being said, a peaceful, under-visited town with incredible views. Easy to get to by plane. Can’t recommend highly enough.
