The staff are good. They can pick you up from airport, though in Niue you really had better rent a car! Kitchen had enough tools to cook with. Bathroom had all one needs. Walking distance from food, bank. You can befriend other guests, if you are lucky!

Great no frills accommodation, short walk from local shops. The water from the tap is safe to drink but we found it wasn't refreshing and had a taste, there is a filtered water station a short walk away. We brought a couple of 3L bottles and filled them up and kept them chilled. Fridge is a good size to keep a few coconuts cool ready to drink. Accommodation is set back from the main road. Bed was comfortable. 2 beach towels were also supplied which was great. There is a ceiling fan in the main area and 2 other portable fans which are definitely needed to keep the place cool. There is a couple of different brooms which were helpful to keep the floor clean (very easy to walk bits inside as there is no paths which seems typical for the island) Handful of really good restaurants 10min drive away. Definitely recommend hiring a car, the island isn't made for walking. Hosts were very helpful with local tips and responded quickly to our questions, a very relaxing stay would highly recommend staying here.

I met the owner on the flight to Niue (small world). Very nice and respectful guy. He waited until I clear immigration/customs and get my car rental to show me the property (which he didn’t really need to do). The property is great and a much better alternative to the overcrowded resorts. It is cozy and felt like home. The area is a couple of minutes from town. Definitely recommend staying here to really get a feel of the island

We had been to both the resort and the hotel 7 years earlier...

We had been to both the resort and the hotel 7 years earlier so this was a returning trip. We like the island for it's natural beauty the friendliness of the locals and the lack of tourism. The resort was relaxing the staff lovely and led by an excellent manager James, but needs some maintenance on their outdoor furniture, We ate mainly at the hotel as most of the other local cafes were shut over Christmas and New Year. The food was excellent quality and quantity and their were choices of both fish, meat and vegetarian. The 2 cafes we did eat at this time Vaiolama and Kaiika both served excellent quality food with friendly local staff. We re-visited some of the local snorkeling spots we had been to on our previous visit and Limu pools was again one of our favourite spots. the water clarity was exceptional and the fish are not scared of you so they hang around. We also liked the snorkeling at the beach at Wash away cafe and Hikutaveke reef pools. However the sea wasn't as calm as when we visited in August.

Everyone in Niue is friendly and engaging.

Everyone in Niue is friendly and engaging. Make sure you bring reef shoes, snorkel/mask and a friendly attitude to make the most of your time here. Engage with the locals, visit the markets, and get out and about. Hire a bike and travel at a suitable pace, if you time it right, spend the day at a village Show Day. Self-transport is a necessity ( car, bike or walking) Be aware that as Niue is pretty flat biking is a breeze but the dogs ( very friendly without exception) may chase you at times. As a vegan traveller be prepared to bring suitable food for your stay as meat and fish are the mainstay, although Fanas Cafe will do vegan.

I loved my time on Niue, though the food was very expensive so I cooked my own food. One needs to hire a car or bike to get around. Visiting tourist spots you have the whole place to yourself. The same with swimming and beaches - great.
