Very spacious and clean, with all the amenities you would hope for. The host was incredibly friendly and helpful. You need to pay in cash, which I didn’t have so he drove me to an ATM, and then to a grocery store to get a bit of food for breakfast. It’s in a very quiet neighborhood but still only a few (6?) minute drive to the airport. I will definitely stay here again if I ever need to catch an early flight from Montevideo.

The location once inside! Beautiful outlook over privste lagoon, pool, beach. Full amenities invcluding gym and heated indoor pool and secure covered parking. The owners are rightly proud to host such a great property! The decor was bright and very cute! Lovely large private balcony with optional shade cover! Large walking shower……Nice!

Very nice place, with more amenities than initially informed. The radiant floor heating was a bonus that we love it. Also the washer and dryer on place. Very secured place. Having 2 full bathrooms help a lot with two kids. Overall excellent place.

...From start to finish, we had a very pleasant experience staying at Hotel Bahamas. The staff at the front desk were very friendly, respectful, professional and helpful with the entire process. The setting and "ambiance" of the Hotel Bahamas itself is actually quite remarkable, and the price we paid for our room was very competitive. We had to leave early in the morning to get to the airport on-time, so we didn't get a chance to try their free breakfast. However, based on what we had already experienced in our stay with them and the neatness of their dining area, I'm sure that their breakfast would have been fabulous.

Carrasco International Airport is located 12 miles (19 kilometres) from downtown Montevideo. Official taxis can be found waiting outside the arrivals lounge and take about 30 minutes to reach the city. Fares start at about UYU 1200. Three bus operators provide services into the city, with journeys taking a little over 45 minutes.

Montevideo was nice to visit although it can get boring...
Montevideo was nice to visit although it can get boring really fast. There actually isn't a lot to see. I think 2-3 days max is all you need to visit the beaches, see some landmarks, see some museums, do a city tour, and maybe go wine tasting.

try the asado de tira at the restaurants, was the meat I liked the most
recomend renting a car or using uber. other option is the buses that I didn't really try. mind that parking is very difficult
must visit the Centenario Stadium and the Punta Carretas park

Montevideo is another arse-out-of-its-pants South American city. With its land & climate, it should have living standards like a first world country. A series of bad politicians including cruel dictators & poor financial control mean that the people are living below their potential.
I can't imagine living with an inflation that reduced the Uruguayan peso to be USD0.025. (2 1/2 cents!)
Occasionally, a good government comes along with progressive policies & Uruguay seems to be in one of those phases now.
Some money is being pumped into renovating old buildings & smartening the city up. Their main asset is the people who are almost invariably kind, tolerant & helpful.
