At The Perth Mint, founded in 1899 and custodian to one of Western Australia’s oldest heritage sites, you will explore the history and allure of gold. The Mint brings the State’s gold story to life in an atmospheric setting that contrasts its historic origins with striking modern exhibits.

As you move through the darkened halls of the Gold Exhibition, multimedia presentations, interactive displays, historic images and aged artefacts will form the backdrop to a range of pure gold exhibits. You will embark on an emotive journey of gold discovery, marvel at the largest gold coin ever made and see an impressive collection of natural gold nuggets. Along the way you can watch how molten gold is poured to form a solid gold bar and discover the value of your weight in gold, among other displays that highlight Western Australia’s golden beginnings.
