Taste Bulgarian wine in the intimate setting of Tempus Vini, a boutique wine shop on an artsy street in Sofia’s city centre, just a few streets from the main pedestrian boulevard. During your guided tasting you will sample five varieties made from local grapes that are unique to Bulgaria and cannot be found elsewhere: Miskets, Melnik, Mavrud, Gumza and Rubin. The tasting typically includes local cheeses, artisanal bread and mineral water to accompany the wines.
Although Bulgaria has been producing wine for 5,000 years, it remains relatively unknown in many parts of the world. As you move through the tasting, your host will explain the country’s wine regions and share background on Bulgarian wine history and culture, as well as the new generation of boutique winemakers bringing renewed attention to the craft. All tastings are held in English or Bulgarian.
