The train ride is one of the most popular experiences in Curitiba and the surrounding region. In the morning you will visit Antonina, a friendly little historic port town, and then move on to Morretes, known for its gastronomy and the Nhundiaquara River. A typical lunch is included at one of Morretes’ well‑regarded restaurants, and you’ll have free time to stroll the town’s picturesque streets.
In the afternoon you will return to Curitiba by train, travelling up Serra do Mar through the largest preserved area of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil. Along the way you will pass through tunnels and across bridges while guides point out the landscape and tell you about the challenge of building the railway between 1880 and 1885 — an engineering masterpiece to this day. The train is a tourist category service and the guide on board speaks only Portuguese; the van guide also speaks only Portuguese.
