You will stay at a lodge set within the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve in Ecuador, an area that was designated a protected wildlife zone of 603.380 square kilometres (2,329.7 sq mi) on 26 July 1979. The lodge has been developed around the idea of low-impact eco-tourism, so your time there will focus on experiencing the surrounding natural environment with minimal disturbance.
As you move through the reserve and around the lodge, you will be exposed to largely untouched rainforest and a large freshwater lake that shapes the local ecosystem. The lodge’s distinctive waterside location will allow you to enjoy picturesque sunsets across the lake. Much of the wildlife you may see is dependent on that unique lake system, so you may have opportunities to observe species that rely on its habitat. Along the way, you will learn about the importance of preserving these resources for future generations, a core aim of the lodge’s approach to tourism.
