At Quinta da Regaleira you will have timed entry access to the site's main highlights and can explore them at your own pace. You may start your visit with the initiation well, the palace, the gardens, the Chapel and the grottoes. You will descend the spiralling stone staircase of the initiation well, a dramatic structure that symbolises a mystical journey of initiation and is connected by underground tunnels to other parts of the estate. You will also explore the ornate palace, with intricate carvings, grand rooms and balconies that offer views across Sintra. As you move through the grounds, you can wander the lush, labyrinthine gardens, which contain fountains, grottoes, sculptures and hidden tunnels; the landscaping is designed with esoteric symbolism inspired by Freemasonry, alchemy and mythology. Along the way you may visit the Chapel, adorned with colourful stained-glass windows and religious motifs.
