You will set off from the jetty at the Tarentaal Day Visitor area in Ebb & Flow, south of Wilderness Rest Camp, aboard a purpose-built aluminium safari boat. The cruise follows the Touw River through reed-lined wetlands to the lagoon and the nearby village. Along the way, you will pass historic hotels, guest houses, a bridge and riverside luxury homes, enjoying a calm, scenic voyage.
On the return you will travel back up the river past Ebb & Flow and into a steeply forested valley. You will see magnificent yellowwood, milkwood, Cape chestnut and other indigenous trees as the landscape becomes denser. Birdlife is abundant and may include turacos, kingfishers, coots, ducks, geese, cormorants, fish eagles and grebes. You may also have the chance to spot mammals such as baboons, monkeys, bushbuck and otters, among others. All participants must hold a valid day permit, because the cruise operates under a concession with SANParks within Wilderness National Park.
