At the Xiling Seal Engraver's Society — regarded as the holy site of seal carving and listed by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in 2009 — you will learn how to carve your own unique seal under the guidance of a master. The master will show you, step by step, how calligraphy and carving combine, and you will experience the whole process from the artistic design to the carving itself.
You will practise the techniques demonstrated and apply them to your own piece. After you try your best, the master will help to correct your work into a finished seal. The session is hands-on and focused on the craft, with expert instruction helping you understand how written form and carved line work together.
