You will take part in a hands-on leather workshop in central Madrid where you will make your own personalised leather object using only your hands and a little imagination. You can choose between a wallet, a travelling purse, a handbag, a glasses case or propose a different design. The process is not difficult and the teacher will help you throughout, so you will learn basic leatherworking techniques as you shape and finish a useful, long‑lasting piece. Many participants find the experience of creating an attractive handcrafted item very satisfying.
The workshop is set in La Latina, the oldest part of Madrid, close to Cebada Square. This neighbourhood sits near the famous Sunday street market called El Rastro, which is full of antique and handcraft stalls and lined with restaurants, bars and cafés. One of the main streets nearby is Ribera de Curtidores, known as Tannery Road, where there are many leather shops. Along the way you will see the lively character of this historic area and get a sense of the local craft and market culture surrounding the workshop.
