Guided boat trip on Lake Lothing and Oulton Broad, passing historic wrecks, maritime landmarks and working vessels

Duration: 45 minutes

This boat trip takes you onto the working waterways of Lake Lothing and Oulton Broad, offering a water‑level view of maritime history, local industry and hidden sights along the shore. As you move through the harbour you may see vessels operated by organisations such as CEFAS and Border Force, together with offshore wind support vessels, fishing boats and other commercial craft. The journey also visits several historic wreck sites and passes important maritime landmarks that are rarely viewed from this perspective, so you’ll get a different angle on the area’s past and present.

This is a slower‑paced sightseeing experience rather than a high‑speed coastal run, so there will be time to take in the surroundings and hear about local history as you travel. The trip can usually operate in a wide range of weather conditions. Because harbour activity changes, sightings of specific vessels cannot be guaranteed, but the combination of working ships, wrecks and seldom‑seen landmarks gives a distinctive and informative view of the waterways.
