Visiting Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, you will explore some of the town’s most significant historical and cultural sites. The tour includes stops at Jvari Church, the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and the Georgian Stonehenge (Chronicle of Georgia). These landmarks sit close together and form the heart of Mtskheta’s heritage.

As you move through Mtskheta, you will see these main monuments and learn about their place in Georgian history and culture. Jvari Church and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral are central to the town’s religious and historical identity, while the Chronicle of Georgia—often called the Georgian Stonehenge—adds a modern monumental element. Along the way, you will take in the atmosphere of one of Georgia’s oldest capitals and gain a clear sense of why these sites are considered the town’s most important historical and cultural attractions.
