You will meet your private official tour guide in front of the south wall of Diocletian’s Palace, where you’ll get a full view of its scale and hear how and why the palace was built. From here you’ll learn about the palace’s original walls and the preserved entrance gates. The tour will take you to the building that used to be Diocletian’s Mausoleum and later became San Diomo’s Cathedral. You’ll also visit the Peristyle Square, the palace’s central square, which is one of Split’s liveliest spots and is often full of people and bars.
As you move beyond the palace area, you’ll head to the north entrance known as the ‘Golden Gate’ and pass into the medieval part of the city commonly called the Old Town. Along the way you’ll walk the cobbled streets and squares and admire architecture from the Renaissance, Gothic and Secession periods. If your hotel is centrally located, pick-up from there can be arranged.
