Starting from Vík, you will travel in a rugged 4x4 across challenging terrain on the way to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. The main attraction is the Katla Ice Cave, nestled within the glacier and named for the Katla volcano that sits beneath. The route is scenic and remote, giving you a strong sense of Iceland’s raw landscapes as you approach the ice.

Inside the Katla Ice Cave you will see striking blue and black ice formations. After exploring the cave, you will return to Vík by the same off‑road route, with opportunities to photograph more of the rugged coast and countryside along the way. The experience combines rough‑road driving, glacier scenery and the chance to walk within an ice cave formed on Mýrdalsjökull.
