In Bari you'll explore the city's hidden archaeological layers with an expert archaeologist, beginning next to the archaeological stretch of the Via Traiana in Ferrarese Square. Along a short section of this ancient Roman road you'll make your way to the Santa Scolastica Archaeological Museum, where the guide will explain finds and contexts from Roman, early Christian and Byzantine periods.
As you move through the old town you'll see the Cathedral of Saint Sabinus, a fine example of Romanesque Apulian architecture that conceals an archaeological itinerary in its underground Succorpo. The tour ends at the imposing Basilica of Saint Nicholas, a symbol of East–West ties that houses the relics of the saint.
