Shogun Experience tour

A 20-person procession with Shogun on white horse through Ōdono to Sansuien Garden for performances and Ōuchi Feast

Duration: 5 hours 30 minutes

You will watch a historical procession through the Ōdono area of Yamaguchi City, where 20 people, including extras, parade in original costumes. The Shogun rides a white horse at the front, and the route passes through streets that still retain their historical atmosphere, giving a strong sense of the past as you move along.

Afterwards the procession will continue to Sansuien Garden, a National Registered Tangible Cultural Asset. There you can enjoy Yamaguchi’s traditional performing arts and savour the Ōuchi Feast, a banquet faithfully recreated from historical records. The combination of the outdoor parade, the serene garden setting and the period food and performances offers a close look at the city’s heritage. Yamaguchi City was also selected by The New York Times as one of the “52 Places to Go in 2024,” which gives extra context to the city’s cultural appeal.
