At the Kyoto Samurai Experience, set in a 260-year-old samurai residence, you’ll step into a living piece of Kyoto’s warrior past. The session mixes practical training, period atmosphere and historical insight so you not only learn techniques but also gain context about the samurai way—understanding how, and why, these traditions were practised.
You’ll wear traditional attire and practise movements under the guidance of expert instructors, refining your form through focused sword work. You will then cut a target using a real iaitō. The experience finishes with Zen meditation and the opportunity to hold an antique samurai sword, connecting body, mind and history. Along the way you’ll encounter the discipline and ritual that shaped samurai life, presented in a setting that preserves its original character.
