This hands-on session will see professional instructors help you make your own knives in a clear, easy-to-understand way, even if you are a beginner. The main event is forging: you will heat iron until it is hot and red and shape it repeatedly with a hammer. Along the way, instructors will teach correct hammer technique and guide you through each stage of shaping so you know what you are doing as the metal takes form.
Some of the work involves hot metal and tools, so there is an element of danger, but instructors will explain safety and supervise the process. Video and photography are also available to record your experience. If you have any questions before or during the session, you are invited to contact the provider. Children under 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
