The Hands-on Batik Experience is an engaging, interactive session that walks you through the step-by-step process of creating a batik cloth. As you move through the activity, you will work with traditional tools and learn the key techniques involved in batik making. You will get to design your own pattern and take the finished piece home as a souvenir.
Along the way you will have the chance to watch a batik instructor — who is also an active batik creator — at work and observe how they approach their craft in day-to-day practice. The small group size means you will have the opportunity to ask questions, and the instructor will personally guide each participant when help is needed. The experience is hands-on and designed so you leave having tried the main stages of batik making and taken away something you made yourself.
