You will travel from M'Hamid into the Erg Chegaga desert, moving through changing landscapes of dunes, hammada, oasis and distant mountains. Along the way you will visit a sacred oasis and reach the Grand Dune — the largest in Morocco, about 300 metres high and stretching roughly 40 km. From the top you will watch the sunset over the sweeping sandscape, then return to the bivouac for tea, songs with darbuka, dinner and a night in a tent beneath clear, star-filled skies. A camel ride is included as part of the desert experience.
After the night in the dunes you will head back toward M'Hamid following the tracks of Latch wadi. The Chegaga dunes offer chances to try sandboarding — either standing or lying down — on slopes that range from steep and exhilarating to gentle and relaxing. Along the way you will enjoy the quiet and wide-open views that make this part of the Sahara distinctive.
