Chefchaouen’s blue lanes are as much about flavour as they are about colour. Recognised by UNESCO in 2010 as an iconic community of the Mediterranean Diet and as part of the country’s intangible cultural heritage, the city offers a food scene rooted in tradition. You’ll be picked up from your hotel and taken into the heart of the medina to explore its iconic streets, with plenty of chances for photos and for getting a sense of local food culture as you move through the neighbourhood.
Along the way you’ll stop at up to five different places to sample typical tastes, which may include Moroccan doughnuts (sfenj), Moroccan tea and local goat cheese. After trying several snacks, the tour ends with a visit to a traditional restaurant where you’ll taste classic dishes such as couscous, tajine and zaalouk, among others. The experience combines sightseeing, tasting and short insights into what gives Chefchaouen its distinctive culinary identity.
