This guided tour uses Mayan mythology and the Legend of Xibalba as its context to lead you through the nine levels of the Mayan underworld. As you move through the cave system, you will reach level 5, where the provider notes the largest stalactite in Yucatan. At level 7 you will encounter the area associated with Mayan purification ceremonies and learn about their cultural significance as you explore the site.
The experience finishes with a swim in the Cenote’s shallow, crystal-clear waters, giving you a chance to relax and take in the surroundings. After returning to the surface, you will go to a Mayan dining room to try a typical, organic meal. Along the way, the focus will remain on the Legend of Xibalba and the features of the underworld as a way to understand the stories and rituals tied to each level.
