This experience takes you to the beach and a nearby turtle sanctuary to witness the hatchlings’ journey from sand to sea. At night, female turtles come ashore to lay eggs. A qualified team collects those eggs and places them in the sanctuary to protect them from predators. Along the way you’ll learn about that protective work and the steps taken to give hatchlings the best chance of survival.
After a short briefing, you will be given a freshly hatched baby turtle to release on the beach. You’ll stand close by as the tiny animal makes its way across the sand and into the surf, and you can cheer it on as it runs to sea. Because the experience depends on natural hatchings, the location of the tour may change on the day.
