This Sami Reindeer Experience from Svolvær takes you to a remote reindeer paddock where you’ll meet the herd and spend time with genuine Sami reindeer herders. As you move through the site, you’ll learn about the Sami people’s history, customs and traditions and gain insight into their close relationship with nature and the reindeer.
You’ll have the chance to get close to the reindeer and feed them by hand, and hear personal stories from Sami hosts. Lunch is included, either served around the fire in a traditional lavvu (Sami tent) or provided as a quality packed meal depending on the day’s schedule. The visit offers an authentic, immersive cultural encounter for travellers who want to go beyond the typical tourist trail and connect with the living culture of the north.
