In Ōkere Falls, Rotorua, you will move through a network of ziplines, swing bridges and boardwalks that take you above waterfalls and into native forest. Along the way you’ll fly, walk and pause to take in the taiao (environment) of Ōkere. The experience includes a hands-on cultural and ecological element, suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities, so you can learn about the place as you explore it.
The attraction grew from an intimate connection with the Ōkere Awa (Kaituna River) and is a joint venture between Ngāti Hinerangi and Sam Sutton of Rotorua Rafting. It has been created to showcase the mauri (spirit) and importance of the river and surrounding land, and is described by the providers as Aotearoa’s soon-to-be premier zipline experience. As part of its conservation focus, every guest will leave a tree in their name while the Rotorua Ziplines reforestation project works towards planting 60,000 native trees by the end of 2025.
