This experience takes you into the Binictican hills of Subic Bay Olongapo to meet the Aetas, a truly native people who live in one of the few remaining untouched rainforest areas in the Philippines. The tribe’s area, known as the Pamulaklakin trail, is a well-known local destination. As you move through this landscape, you will meet Aeta families and get a close sense of their daily life and customs.
You will learn how the Aetas use the forest and its resources in their day-to-day life. They will demonstrate traditional survival skills needed in the jungle and show practical uses of local plants and materials. Along the way you will see aspects of Aeta culture — they are known for being warm and friendly, smaller in stature than many other Filipinos, and for their distinctive tight curly hair. Lunch will be prepared by the tribe and cooked inside bamboo, offering a direct taste of their cooking methods.
