    Copenhagen
This tour takes you to four of the most important landmarks and attractions in the outskirts of Copenhagen. You will start the day at Kronborg Castle – an impressive fortification from the 16th century that's been guarding the Baltic Sea path for years. It was also the setting for Shakespeare's famous play 'Hamlet'. Next is Frederiksborg Castle, set majestically on a lake. It's the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia, where you can explore the luxurious rooms, paintings and gold embellishments. The tour will continue to Roskilde Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an important church. It is also the final resting place of many kings and queens. The final stop is at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. It displays rebuilt modern ships as well as excavated originals from a time when the Vikings ruled the area.

This full-day tour takes you to two castles and Roskilde Cathedral. You will visit Kronborg Castle and Roskilde Cathedral; the cathedral and one of the castles on the route are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Your English-speaking driver will guide you with an easy-going, entertaining commentary—an even-handed mix of useful facts, light humour and just enough history without overwhelming you with dates, kings or battles. From May to September the programme typically includes a visit to a dynamic Viking Ship museum. Along the way you will cover plenty of ground: expect to reach about 10,000 steps by day’s end, climb spiral staircases inside medieval castles and walk across cobblestone streets. You will also enjoy fresh air and a taste of Danish weather, so dress for the conditions—after all, as the Danes say, “There is no bad weather, just the wrong clothing!”

This relaxed tour suits anyone who prefers extra time at each stop or a slower pace. You’ll begin at the UNESCO Heritage-listed Roskilde Cathedral, where a one-hour guided tour will introduce the cathedral’s history and features. From there you’ll move to the Viking Ship Museum at the bay of Roskilde. The museum has a small harbour that is filled with replicated Viking ships in the summer, all built at the museum’s shipyard. Your guide will give a short introduction at the museum, and then you’ll have free time to explore the exhibitions and activities on your own. The tour also includes a visit to Hillerød, a typical mid-sized Danish town with a pedestrian shopping street lined with cafés, takeaways, Danish-style hotdog stands and a local bakery where you can find lunch options. In Hillerød you’ll see Frederiksborg Palace, described here as a renaissance palace built in the 1700s. The palace is packed with historical artefacts, shows impressive architecture and features a distinctive baroque garden. Along the way you’ll have time to take in the sites at a relaxed pace.

This experience is designed for cruise travellers with limited time in Copenhagen who want a day outside the city. You will join the standard Full‑Day outing, but depending on your ship’s arrival or departure you may not visit all four sites. Guided commentary in English is provided at Kronborg Castle and Roskilde Cathedral, and you will get an introductory presentation at the Viking Ship Museum. Frederiksborg Palace is visited on a self‑guided basis. The guides keep the narrative light and clear — enough history to put the places in context without overloading you with dates and dynasties, and with a touch of humour along the way. Expect to climb narrow, spiral staircases in medieval castles and stroll across cobbled streets; you will reach roughly 8,000 steps by the end of the day. Dress for changeable weather — as the Danes say, there’s no bad weather, only the wrong clothing — and bring comfortable shoes for walking and stairs.
