On this helicopter tour from Kathmandu you will fly to Everest Base Camp and make a landing at Kala Patthar. Unlike a traditional trek, the flight will allow you to reach these high-altitude sites quickly, giving you more time to take in the surroundings rather than the journey on foot. From the air you will see a panoramic tapestry of towering peaks, lush valleys and remote villages. The helicopter will touch down at both Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, giving you an up-close encounter with the world’s highest mountains. As you move through each site you can walk around and absorb the views at your own pace, taking in the scale and remoteness of the Himalayas from both the air and the ground.

On the Sikkim Green Lake Trek you follow a very picturesque trail that combines dense natural beauty with spectacular views of high peaks. The route passes through vast tracts of thick forest alive with several varieties of rhododendron, other colourful flowers and a variety of birds. Waterfalls tumble down both sides of the trail, and the landscape opens from wooded valleys to sweeping mountain vistas as you move higher. The area has a notable mountaineering history: Kanchenjunga was one of the first peaks attempted by expeditions before World War Two, and, when Nepal was closed, approaches via the Zemu Glacier from Sikkim were used. Pre-war Everest expeditions also passed through North Sikkim and this trail featured in their routes. Today much of the country around Green Lake remains largely unexplored, since not many parties have been allowed to cross into the area, as Harish Kapadia notes. The trek therefore offers both striking natural scenery and a sense of remote, historically significant terrain.
