In Piran, you will follow a guide through the town’s winding, narrow streets as you uncover the stories hidden in its old houses and admire the town’s timeless tilework. Along the way, the route will bring you to the central square named for one of Piran’s most famous residents, Giuseppe Tartini, the renowned composer and violinist. You will learn about the people who once lived here and the legends that shaped the town’s past.
From the square you will continue to the Church of Saint George, Piran’s patron saint, and explore its setting. From the church you will be treated to a breathtaking view that reaches across the Bay of Trieste and, on clear days, all the way to the Alps. The walk will combine local history, architecture and folklore, giving you a rounded sense of Piran’s character as you move through its compact, atmospheric centre.
