At Ran-Tong Save & Rescue Elephant Centre in Chiang Mai you'll encounter elephants rescued from all over Thailand and surrounding countries. Each animal is brought to the sanctuary and cared for with passion and enthusiasm. The centre's work focuses on protecting elephants and preventing further abuse, while also educating visitors about their long history within Thai culture. Founded in 2009, Ran-Tong has rescued over 40 elephants to date, and continues its work with the help of public generosity, support and private donations. The experience is centred on respectful interaction and learning, so you will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges these animals face and the conservation efforts that support them. Overall, you will learn a lot about elephants and leave with a clearer sense of Ran-Tong’s mission to protect and care for these animals.
