You will explore the highlights of Cappadocia, beginning at a scenic vista point overlooking Goreme where your guide will outline the region’s rich history. Next you will visit the Open Air Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As you move through its cave churches, your guide will explain the meanings of the frescoes that cover walls dating back a thousand years.
Along the way you will stop in the ancient village of Çavusin to explore its ruins, including old churches, and have lunch in a local restaurant. You will also see Devrent’s animal-shaped rock formations and Pasabag, the Monk’s Valley, known for its mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys. The day will end in Avanos, a picturesque town on the river that supplies clay for the 4,000-year-old Avanos pottery tradition.
