Capoeira is an Afro‑Brazilian martial art that blends attacks, escapes, dance, acrobatics, music and Brazilian culture. It is the only martial art performed to live music, so you will practise movements and rhythms together rather than in silence. The experience will give you a full‑body workout while you learn practical self‑defence skill sets and how to flow between defensive and offensive moves.
As you move through the session, you will practise sequences that mix acrobatic kicks and evasions with rhythmic steps and musical cues. Along the way you will hear live instruments and song, and learn how music shapes timing and interaction in Capoeira. The class will be led by Professores Cobra D'Agua and Canela, who have been training Capoeira for over 20 years and will guide you through both the physical techniques and the cultural elements that accompany them.
