As you move through the site beneath shade structures, over 200 vanilla orchids will climb custom trellis systems around you. Along the way, your knowledgeable guide will explain the complete journey from flower to cured vanilla bean and describe the unique microclimate at 1,200 feet elevation that makes this location suitable for vanilla cultivation.
You’ll see the delicate hand-pollination process that occurs just one day per year and hear why vanilla is one of the most labour-intensive crops on earth. The guide will also share the art and science behind growing and curing the beans, giving you a clear sense of each stage of production.
