This experience begins with a hands-on overview of firearm technology from the American colonial era. An instructor with more than 35 years' experience in building, collecting, restoring and using historic weapons will guide you. Along the way, you will learn not only what typical 18th-century small arms were like, but why they were designed that way and what they were capable of — and what they were not.
After a safety orientation, you will walk out to a rustic shooting range. There you will learn the basics of loading a colonial-style flintlock musket, much as militia members did over two centuries ago. You will then have the opportunity to fire at a target and test how accurately you can shoot. Group size is limited to four, allowing for focused instruction and hands-on practice.
