At Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary, Wild Encounters let you meet a keeper and spend focused time with an animal of your choice. You may join a session with black bears, lemurs, kinkajous, raccoons, black vultures, or a lynx or serval. The experience centres on close observation rather than handling.
During the encounter you’ll see species-specific enrichment and training demonstrations while the keeper explains natural behaviours and care routines. The keeper will talk you through what each animal is doing and why, so you’ll learn about their needs and how staff support their wellbeing. Animals decide whether to take part, and direct touching is not included. You may take photographs of the interaction.
