Juneteenth and Beyond offers guided sightseeing in Galveston that centres on the city’s African American cultural and historical sites. The company is Black owned and operated and was founded by Dr Araminta Coleman Sorrell, a native of Washington, D.C., who has a deep interest in Galveston’s history, particularly its Black heritage. It is Galveston’s first African American guided history tour franchise.
On this experience you will explore neighbourhoods and landmarks tied to the African American story in Galveston. Along the way, guides who are passionate, professional and knowledgeable about these culturally rich sites will share historical context, local perspectives and stories that illuminate the people and events that shaped the city. As you move through the area, you will gain a clearer sense of Galveston’s Black history and its ongoing significance within the wider community.
